Safat Square is a historic commercial square in Kuwait City, it was a center for trade and barter, in the first half of the twentieth century, Al-Safat Square was considered an important market for caravans coming from the desert, where they are selling various goods and foods commodities such as (ghee, locusts, wool, and some desert plants for medicinal use) they was buying dates, grain and cloth trade in, the square was also an entertainment destination, also it was surrounded by a large number of cafes, and – especially during holidays – children’s games were spread in the square, at the beginning of the 1930s, urban growth began to reach the area, the Kuwait Municipality moved to its new headquarters in the square in 1933, followed by the opening of the Police and Public Security Department building and the Telecommunications and Radio Building, as well as a number of public celebrations were held in the square, the most famous of which was the military parade that took place on February 25, 1950, on the occasion of highness Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah assuming the reins of power in the country, in conclusion the Safat Square embraced military parade of the Kuwaiti army with the participation of British forces.
